The Seven Seductions of Madam Lau
Christopher, along with the company of two women, is piloting a plane to a tropical island. When they land, they are greeted by a tall, dark chauffeur with an Italian accent who informs them they must be blindfolded before he can deliver them to their destination. When the group arrives, Christopher is taken into the chamber of Madame Lau, a raven-haired beauty who is big into tarot cards and tantra. We learn that Christopher is an adventurer who seeks out M. Lau to teach him how to become a world class lover. The ever-mysterious M. Lau lets Chris live out all of his sexual fantasies and gives him tarot card readings in between so he can learn more about his own nature, as well as the nature of people who are truly sexually fulfilled. Does more sex equal a better sex life? Chris has to look within himself for the answer.
The sex scenes in this movie are better than average. The camera work is smooth. The director took his time to focus on the actors and their pleasure. All of the sex scenes involving Christopher revolve around popular fantasies. The first scene has a sensual massage complete with incense. They make a brief mention of tantra, but it is not explored fully in the film. There are scenes involving sex with a Playboy centerfold, many women attending to one man, a man reliving the famous scene from Behind the Green Door with five women having their way with him, taking the virginity of a first love, sex with one’s boss, and sex with the ex. Music is minimal in this movie. I can only recall there being one song other than the theme. There are quite a few external ejaculations, but only one facial. There are genital close-ups in every scene. Fellatio is abundant. Almost every scene had fellatio, but only 3 out of ten scenes had cunnilingus. And there is only condom usage in one scene, but this was shot before condoms were de rigeur in adult films. The scenes are definitely tailored around the wishes of this man, but that is the nature of the story.
The production values in this movie are extremely high. The acting is very good. The film utilized some of the biggest names from the adult films of the day, like Annette Haven, Georgina Spelvin, and Kay Parker. Haven gives a calm and forceful performance as Madame Lau. The special effects are pretty good considering the film was released in 1981. The director was able to seamlessly transform fantasy girls back into Madame Lau without there being any sign of a break in filming. Madame Lau had some beautiful garments. Her wig was hot. The sets were appropriate for the mood of the scenes. Every scene with Lau was dimly lit and cozy to solidify the mysterious nature of her dwelling. Scenes taking place outside of Lau’s lair were well lit and spacious. The script was good even though it could sound like a fortune cookie at times. This is one of those surreal films that leaves the viewer wondering what things were real and what things were not. Like a lot of the porn films of that day, there is a lesson to be learned by the end of the film. Whatever the lesson is, it is up for the viewer to decide.
I would recommend this film to fans of classic films, those who enjoy seeing their fantasies, or people who don’t want a heavy plot to follow.
This movie is retro and mainstream.
The women appear to be having real orgasms - a good time is had by all. They have real bodies and there is no anal sex in the film at all. There is also an interracial scene with is a black man/white woman in a group scene. And there’s group sex: Green Door orgy with 5 ladies/1 man, 2 hetero couples which later becomes 1 man/2 women. There is lots of fellatio.
I especially liked metaphysical aspects of the movie. It makes the movie different, while the director manages to keep it from becoming cheesy.
